CUCS trip to Grantchester

Dear Members,

CUCS is coming up with its first event for this term.  The committee has planned an exciting outing to Grantchester.   The small village is famous for its tea and scones at The Orchard and its beautiful meadows.  If weather permits, we will also walk to Byron’s Pool, a local natural reserve close by.

Annual General Meeting

CUCS is holding its Annual General Meeting for 2015-16. We have received nominations for society positions and the new committee will be elected on this day. Please come along to vote for and know your new committee and also if you would like to get involved with CUCS.

AGM to be held at Date: 20th January 2015

Time: 5-7pm

Venue: Lecture room 5, Mill Lane lecture rooms, 8 Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RX

Marlborough House Trip

Terry Barringer (CUCS's secretary) has arranged a guided tour of the Commonwealth Secretariat Headquarters at Marlbororough House, London.

Our guide will be Stuart Mole, former Director of the Royal Commonwealth Society and fomerly Office Manager for Commonwealth Secretary General Emeka Anyaoku.

Marlborough House is of great historical and architectural interest and has played an important part in the history of the Commonwealth.

Invitation to join committee meeting

Want to find out more about joining the committee?

Students are invited to join committee members and sit-in on one of our meetings to find out more ahead of the elections in January 2015. Come along even if you are not entirely committed yet because this is just an information session. And if you are committed, committee members will be ready to take your questions and you will see for yourself how this society functions and how we manage events along with our busy schedules.

Just drop by the Grad Cafe at 7pm.

Pub Night

Want to explore Cambridge pubs? Or just interested in catching up with fellow scholars?

Join us for drinks and/or food/nibbles (at your own expense) at the Anchor Pub to kick off this academic year. Situated on the banks of the beautiful river Cam and overlooking rows of punts, this is a great pub you won't want to miss.

Please register by filling the form below by 19th Oct so we can have the number of attendees. Pub reservation under 'Commonwealth Society'.

Welcome Tea Parties

It's the start of another academic year!

We would like to welcome all new Cambridge Trust scholars and returning scholars to a tea party jointly organized by CUCS and the Trust.  It is held on 2 consecutive days (15th and 16th) and you can choose to come to both or pick a day that suits you.
